Framatome GmbH is the German subsidiary of the French nuclear technology group Framatome SAS, which in turn is 75.5% owned by Électricité de France (EDF) (other shareholders are Mitsubishi Heavy Industries with 19.5% and Assystem with 5%).
Two predecessor organizations of today’s Framatome GmbH were members of the EFET (European Fusion Engineering and Technology); through EFET, Framatome has made a decisive contribution to engineering issues relating to the ITER design (including blanket, vacuum vessel, power supplies, assembly, remote handling, and safety).
As part of the EUROfusion Industry Tasks, Framatome GmbH carried out studies and development work (e.g., on DEMO remote maintenance) for the European Fusion Demonstration Reactor (DEMO).
In its current work under the DEMO Framework Contract, Framatome provides industrial expertise for work on the pre-conceptual design.
On this basis, Framatome GmbH has the expertise and experience required for the design and layout of the heat and material cycles of a fusion power plant.
